Pratapgarh has seen six SPs in the last 11 months

By TwoCircles.net special correspondent,

Lucknow: It is the dream of many young men and women to have the three words IPS (Indian Police Services) associated with them. In Uttar Pradesh, the treatment meted out to these IPS will make many change their dreams. IPS officers here are transferred at the slightest hint by politicians. When the politician also has a criminal background and backing of the ruling party, they are shunted and removed from their post like a pack of cards. Akhilesh Yadav’s government could also not escape this scenario.

As the CBI investigation continues in the murder of martyred DSP Ziaul Haq, facts about the clout of former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya are also coming out in the open. Samajwadi Party came to power in Uttar Pradesh on March 15, 2012 and Raja Bhaiyya was made one of the ministers. During its eleven months tenure, Raja Bhaiyya enjoyed a complete hold over the machinery in his home district Pratapgarh. Such was his clout that Pratapgarh witnessed six Superintendents of Police (SP) during 11 months. None of the SPs could complete even 60 days in office before getting transferred.

Deepak Kumar was the SP when Raja Bhaiyya became minister. On the 13th day of Raja Bhaiyya becoming minister (March 28) he was transferred and a 2006 batch officer Shalabh Mathur was posted. He could hardly
spend one and a half month and he was removed on May 16, 2012. After him 1998 batch officer Om Prakash Sagar was given the reins of the district and was again transferred on June 29. After him Kiran S was posted as SP in Pratapgarh on June 30 and transferred on February 13, 2012. After him Anil Kumar Rai was posted as SP but he could not stay longer and was transferred following the murder of Ziaul Haq.

Now the reins are in the hands of 2006 batch officer L R Kumar. When senior officials are transferred at such a pace one can easily understand the position of junior officials as DSP, CO etc.
