Trouble began on Tuesday March 19 at around 7.30 PM, when a huge crowd belonging to right wing Hindu organizations surrounded B K Javed’s house. Malpe police rushed to the spot, and upon hearing their complaints questioned Javed about the cattle tethered in his garden.

According to the police, when Javed failed to give any satisfactory answer about where he had got the animal from, they seized it and took it to a ‘goshala’ at Neelavara village. Some media report suggests that the Police took the cattle away, as they feared the break of communal riots.

However, the matter did not end there, the following day, a group of Hindutva activists gathered at Javed’s house and started pelting stones and some even entered the house smashing the TV set and furniture. Soon the members of the Muslim community also gathered at the place and a clash erupted.

The police had to resort to lathi charge to disperse the crowd. They have reportedly warned activists of Hindutva organisations ‘against taking law into their own hands’. Police forces have been deployed in the village to tighten the Security.
