Washington: The US government is considering “other military options” in Iraq, a media report said here Thursday.
President Barack Obama is considering air strikes or airdrops of food and medicine to address a humanitarian crisis among as many as 40,000 religious minorities in Iraq, who have been dying of heat and thirst on a mountaintop following death threats from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, reported Xinhua citing CNN.
About 50,000 Yazidis are thought to have been trapped in the mountains after fleeing Sinjar town – although the UN says some of them have now been rescued.
