Islamabad : Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif left for Afghanistan’s capital Kabul Wednesday to meet the top Afghan military and political leadership, media reported.
Accompanied by the director general of Inter-Services Intelligence, General Sharif will meet Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) commander General John Campbell, tweeted Asim Bajwa, director general of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
General Sharif is likely to discuss the possibility of a joint military operation by the Pakistani and Afghan armies against handlers of the Peshawar school carnage that left 148 people, mostly school children, dead, Dawn online reported
The army chief will seek the Afghan military’s cooperation for “a joint operation to counter terrorism and eliminate militants hiding inside Afghanistan”, the report said.
