Reacting to a question whether the Congress is threatening DMK with the case, Karunanidhi said: “People are thinking so after reading news reports. I don’t know the basic truth on that.”

Former telecom minister and DMK’s propaganda secretary A. Raja and Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi have been charged by the Central Bureau of Investigation as conspirators in the 2G telecom spectrum allocation case.

Karunanidhi spoke to the media in Tiruchirappalli, about 350 km from here.

He also termed the attitude of the Left parties as political slavery towards the ruling AIADMK government.

To a question on Left parties projecting state chief minister and AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa as a prime ministerial candidate, Karunanidhi said it shows their slave mentality.

Queried whether he has any prime ministerial ambitions, Karunanidhi said: “I know my height.”

According to Karunanidhi, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah are his long-time friends and they paid him a friendly visit here.

“Till date, Congress leaders or leaders from north India did not discuss political alliance with me,” Karunanidhi said.

The DMK came out of the United Progressive Alliance last year, as it was dissatisfied with the way the centre was handling the Tamil issue in Sri Lanka.
