Support to AIDMK in lok sabha only if TN govt increases reservations for Muslims: TNTJ

Chennai: The powerful Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath, an ally of Jayalalitha’s All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) that only if the TN Government increases the reservation of Muslims (BCM) in the state thatTNTJ will extend its support to ADMK in the coming general elections.

“If they fail to increase the reservation, then TNTJ will campaign effectively against ADMK in the Parliament election,” a resolution passed at the recently concluded 15th General body meeting, read.



The general body meeting was held on 23rd February at Platinum Hall, Erode. The main agenda of the general body meeting was to decide its support in upcoming loksabha election.

TNTJ said that its support to any political party is based on demands which it proposes for the welfare of the society.

Jamath recently organised a massive jail chalo to press the state government to raise the current 3.5% reservation for Muslims in state and central to implement Justice Ranganath Mishra report and quote 10% reservation in central.



TNTJ has given a week time for ADMK Government to decide and if they do not increase the reservation within this week, then TNTJ State executives will meet on next Sunday in Chennai to decide next course of action and to discuss the effective ways to campaign against ADMK and finalise TNTJ’s final stand on its support in the Parliament election.

The resolution was proposed by TNTJ state admins and accepted by over 4000 TNTJ office bearers who participated from across the state.
