Sindhu took sweet revenge of last year’s loss in the final by packing off defending champion and Indonesian fourth seed Lindaweni Fanetri 21-6, 12-21, 21-17 in an hour and two minutes at the Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium.

“Saina is senior to me and I am playing her for the first time. I hope to give my best and 100 percent for tomorrow’s (Sunday’s) match,” World Championship bronze medallist Sindhu said here.

Though Sindhu has played Saina twice during the Indian Badminton League (IBL), losing both matches, the duo will face each other for the first time in an official Badminton World Federation (BWF) tournament.

On her win, Sindhu said her victory over Lindaweni at the Malaysia Open Super Series Premier last week had given her the confidence to perform here.

“Last week, we played in Malaysia and I won that match. This was my sixth match against her and I was confident. It was a good, tough match and there were big rallies,” said the World No.11.

“I played really well in the first game but in the second game I gave her the lead early on. From there, recovering was difficult as I made a lot of errors. In the third game, I was down 0-4 but I took up the game after that.”
