Amman : Jordanian government has said that regional developments in the Middle East should not overshadow the Palestinian issue, which is at the core of regional conflicts, state media reported.
At a meeting with UN special envoy for Middle East Robert Serry, Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh express these views and reviewed developments in the Middle East and obstacles facing the peace talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis, Xinhua reported.
The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation to push the peace talks forward.
The Jordanian minister also voiced his country’s support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital in line with the Arab peace initiative and other related international resolutions.
For his part, the UN official appreciated Jordan’s role in maintaining regional peace.
