Islamabad : The Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the installation of CCTV cameras in all courts in Islamabad Tuesday, a day after the suicide attack on a district court that killed 11 people.
Besides the two suicide bombers, a judge and five lawyers were also killed in the terror attack.
The Supreme Court directed the installation of CCTV cameras within 48 hours in Islamabad and the nearby city of Rawalpindi, Xinhua reported.
The three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani, also ordered action against police officers who failed to respond immediately to the attack.
A lesser known militant group, Ahrar-ul-Hind, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Secretary Interior Shahid Khan submitted a report on the attack which says 66 policemen were deployed to the district court but only 47 were on duty at the time of the attack.
He also said that the cameras along with three security scanner gates at the district court broke down for sometime.
The apex court also instructed Islamabad police chief Sikandar Hayat, to submit a report about the security detail and their response to the attack.
