Ramallah : The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) decided Wednesday not to extend the current US-mediated peace talks with Israel, which are set to end in April.
“Our decision goes in line with the popular desire not to extend the peace talk,” Xinhua cited a statement issued by the PLO’s executive committee after its meeting in Ramallah.
The Palestinian stance comes ahead of next week’s meeting in Washington between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and US President Barack Obama to discuss peace talks with Israel.
The meeting is expected to get the Palestinians and Israel to agree on a framework plan for peace.
The Palestinian decision shuts the door on US proposals to extend the ongoing peace talks which kicked off last July.
