Hyderabad: Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee (CLMC), India in a press release on 24th March 2014 condemned the Arrest of Moulana Abdul Qavi a prominent Muslim scholar from Hyderabad most humiliated manner, saying that it is an alarm of danger for the whole Muslim community of India. CLMC expressed its anguish over the arrest and stated that this arrest is enough to show that Muslims’ life and liberty are at stake.
The law and order of Delhi is under the control of central government and Sonia Gandhi’s right hand Susheel Kumar Shinde, the home minister of India, has directly supervised Delhi police special cell and Intelligence Bureau. So Ms. Sonia Gandhi, congress president, Mr.Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India and Mr. Susheel Kumar Shinde, Home Minister of India can neither escape nor give any justification for ignorance. The Committee claimed that in coming elections the Congress party will have to pay heavy price.
The General Secretary of CLMC, Lateef Mohd. Khan claims that the arrest of Moulana Qavi is a joint operation of three states police i.e. Delhi, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad police under the direct supervision of Intelligence Bureau. Even though the government at centre and Hyderabad is of Congress and BJP at Ahmedabad, but the mindset of every party is fascist towards Muslims. The public meeting conducted in the Ujale Shah Eidgah playground at Hyderabad where MoulanaQavi had spoken on the issue of unity and integrity of Muslims and to combat against the present bad conditions of Muslims, led to his arrest. With this act of arrest, IB has sent a strong signal among Muslim community – not to think equal to all as you (Muslims) are the second citizens of the country so you have to remain in your limitations. At any moment your civil liberty can be curbed whether it is a common Muslim or a Muslim scholar; it may be Hyderabad or Delhi
The DCB/6 case which is part of the greater conspiracy case to eliminate Modi, Togadia and Advani had booked several muslim people under POTA who were later acquitted by Courts. When this case is already a false case, arresting Moulana under this case is a big joke, said Khan. After the arrest of Moulana Abdul Qavi, the question arises in the minds of Muslims that if this can happen with such a highly respected scholar, then what about a common Muslim.
CLMC appealed to the international community to come forward to restore the human rights and civil liberties of Muslims and pressurize the government to stop targeting Muslim scholars, Muslim youth in the name of fighting against terrorism. Rather the government should clean its administration and remove anti-Muslim and fascist forces. Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee proposes to raise this issue at international level and take the matter to the international human rights organizations and to NRIs settled in various countries to come forward and help Indian Muslims to live life with human dignity.
