“This is a very unfortunate incident. The central and the state government are sole responsible for this incident. They have failed to protect the common people of the state. Not just Muslims, all the minorities including the Adivasi people have also been suffering in the area. The government should take appropriate action,” Madani said.

He mentioned that these incidents bring shame to the country in the global platform. “Even in 2012, country’s highest displacement took place in this part but the state government could not do much from re-occurrence this incident,” Madani added.

Suspecting the controversial statement made by Pramila Rani Brahma of Bodoland People’s Party (BPF) that Muslims have not voted for BPF during the Lok Sabha polls, Madani demanded that she should be arrested. “Proper investigation should be carried out to find out the reason and if found guilty, Pramila Rani Brahma should be arrested. The state government should also bring to an end to its partnership with BPG,” Madani added.

He also said that all the illegal arms should be seized besides punishing the culprits to bring an end to this problem of killing innocent people. “The culprits should be booked and punished at the earliest to bring an end to this problem. There should be dialogues and mutual understanding to maintain peace and harmony. Everybody should understand it,” Madani added.

He also met Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi and requested him to take appropriate action to solve the problem. “The CM has assured us that he will do the needful to control the violence and will punish the culprits,” he said.

Among others, he said that the BTAD administration should be dissolved immediately and Assam governor should take the control of it. “Besides we demand that the victims should be compensated handsomely more than those in Mujaffarnagar in UP,” he said.

Meanwhile, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) on Sunday lodged complaints with the Election Commission of India against BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary and Pramila Rani Brahma. AIUDF also urged the EC to take appropriate measure so that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are not tempered.
