Ghaziabad : Industries in Ghaziabad would remain without power for at least a week due to the damages in the transmission lines caused by Friday’s thunderstorm, a local factory owner quoted state power corporation officials as saying.
Vipin Agarwal, the general secretary of Site IV Industries Association, Sahibabad told IANS that when a delegation of industrialists met Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) Chief Engineer Abrar Ahmad over the failure of power supply to the area, he informed them that three towers of main power transmission lines had collapsed in the storm and it is impossible to repair them before a week.
“Although a team of dedicated engineers has been assigned to repair the damaged towers but after assessing the quantity of damage to the transmission line, the team has reported that the repair work would take at least a week’s time,” said UPPCL Chief Engineer
In the meantime, Ahmad asked the industrialists to arrange for power from private generators so that the commitments of the production are not suffered.
In Ghaziabad, domestic power supply was also hit as falling trees snapped electric wires in residential colonies, Ahmad told IANS.
