Panaji : Under flak from the opposition and the media for her much publicised visit to an astrologer, Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani Tuesday attracted barbs from her own partymen.
Vishnu Wagh, Bharatiya Janata Party legislator from St. Andre constituency near Panaji, Tuesday took to WhatsApp to comment on the controversy surrounding Irani’s visit to an astrologer in Bhilwara in Rajasthan.
“Now we can demand to include ‘J(y)otish’ (study of horoscopes) as a compulsory subject in the school curriculum,” Wagh said on a WhatsApp group which he moderates.
The comment had a newspaper clipping which has a photo of Irani spreading her palms before the astrologer.
Irani’s ministry has been a subject of a controversy, after media reports said it was keen on dropping German from the curriculum and that Sanskrit would be made compulsory for Kendriya Vidyalas across India.
