Telangana CM urges Tata Group to invest Rs.40,000 crore

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao Friday requested the Tata Group to invest about Rs.30,000 to 40,000 crore for an integrated development of Hyderabad and making it a world-class smart city.

The chief minister made this request when a team of officers from Tata Group led by Anil Sardana, CEO and managing director, Tata Power, met him here.

According to a statement from the chief minister’s office, Rao said Hyderabad, which has several software industries and with Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) also being developed, needs companies like Tata to develop it on par with any world class city.

The CEO of Tata Power offered to establish 1,000 MW thermal power project in Telangana. He said the plant would be able to generate power in the next two years.

They also offered to add solar power capacity as well as decentralised distributed generation solutions using solar power for rural areas, and also roof top solar, energy plantation on waste lands for bio mass power.
