Srinagar : Bhutan’s king Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck Wednesday conveyed his deepest condolences to the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the loss of lives and damage caused by floods in the state.
In a message to Governor N.N. Vohra, the king conveyed his condolences over the loss of hundreds of lives and injuries and damage to property due to the floods and landslides, according to a statement issued by the Raj Bhavan here.
The king’s message said: “It was with the greatest unhappiness that I received news of the calamitous floods and landslides in Jammu and Kashmir, which has resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives, as well as injuries and damage to property.
“Please accept my deepest condolences to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We offer our prayers for those who have lost their lives, and that the ongoing rescue operations succeed in bringing relief to those who are still stranded.
“I wish you, and the bereaved families, the strength and fortitude to navigate this difficult time,” the message said.
Vohra thanked the king for his concern.
