New Delhi : With only one week left for the online admissions for various undergraduate and post-graduate courses in Jamia Millia Islamia University to end, as many as 51,035 students have applied till Thursday.
As per the data provided by the Media Coordinator Office, Jamia, 44,398 applicants have registered themselves for admissions till Thursday and the total figure for applicants for various courses stood at 51,035.
The online form was available on the portal from April 13. The last date for the submission of forms is May 1.
“One student often applies for more than one course. So far, the online process has been quite smooth,” said Mukesh Ranjan, media coordinator, Jamia.
The university has also made a provision for online registration and cash payment.
Out of the total applicants, so far 31,821 have registered and paid online. Around 6,343 applicants have registered online and paid in cash.
“So far the response for admissions into various courses has been tremendous. We expect more applicants as the last date approaches,” Ranjan added.
“Every day, we get numerous calls asking for admissions in our office, said an office bearer in the Media Outreach Office.
The university has made the admission process completely online from this year.
Among the courses, B.Tech so far has received the maximum number of 15,267 applicants, followed by Diploma courses in engineering for which 4,183 applications have been received.
B.Tech courses include Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics and Communication and Mechanical.
BA (Honours) in Economics (3,419) and English (1,182) are two other popular courses receiving good responses.
BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) is another course for which 2,454 have applied.
The university offers around 6,000 seats for various courses.
