“Need to sharpen soft skills of the students pursuing professional courses”

Hyderabad: Stressing on the need to make the students of MANUU well equipped with the demands of the market, Zafar Sareshwala, chancellor MANUU, has said, “They (the students) need to be equally competent in English.”

But he also remarked later, “Quality of education is more important than the medium of instruction.”



On Friday, the Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) while interacting with the Deans and Directors of the University, underscored the need to sharpen the soft skills of the students pursuing professional courses.

“Proper follow up is required to implement the MOUs signed with prominent industries so that the students get proper exposure,” he said.

“Unnecessary criticism against MANUU is a barrier in achieving its aims and objectives,” he opined. Sareshwala acknowledged the prominent role played by the first three vice chancellors of MANUU, including Professor Mohammad Miyan, who completed his tenure recently, a release from MANUU media in-charge said.

He referred to the recently held conference “Power of Education” at Mumbai, where Devandra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, Maharashtra, announced to establish Urdu medium schools in that state. He agreed to allot land for MANUU to establish its campus (there). This is an effort to open a contact between the government & the minorities, he said.

Professor Khwaja M Shahid, vice chancellor In charge, apprised the Chancellor about the progress of the University and gave details of the admission process. Professor S M Rahmatullah, Registrar I/c, requested the Chancellor to provide guidance in obtaining additional grants from the UGC.

Professor Mohd Zafaruddin, Director, Centre for Urdu language, literature & Culture, presented the Chancellor a copy of newly published book by the Centre on Famous poet, writer and activist, Ali Sardar Jafri, on the occasion, the release added.
