Huge cache of explosive seized on the border of Maharashtra and MP; 2 Rajasthan residents arrested

Nagpur: In a joint operation Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Madhya Pradesh police seized a huge cache of bomb-making material from a house in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh. They also arrested two persons from the rented house, who are originally from Rajasthan.

Acting on a tip off, the Nagpur unit of Maharashtra ATS raided a house in Chindwara district on Friday, February 6; along with MP police recovered a huge amount of explosives.

The arrested are identified as Mukesh Sankhla (30) and Rajmal Sankhla (40), both belong to Bhilwada district in Rajasthan. They were residing in a house owned by by Khusal Madankar (60) at old Pandhurna, Chhindwada in MP.

Both the accused have been booked under the sections of Indian Explosive substance Act-1908.

The police recovered 1,768 electric detonators, 612 sticks of Kelvex power 90 Class-2 explosive, 840 feet Detonating cord, one exploder and other related equipments.

The Maharashtra unit of ATS based in Nagpur had received a specific tip that such contraband could be found in a house in Pandhurna town of the Chindwara district. The town lies in the midst of two taluka places of Maharashtra and is just 10 KM from the interstate border. This area is notorious for the presence of smugglers, terrorists and dacoits since it is a heavily wooded and hilly terrain.

ATS Chief additional DG Himanshu Roy confirmed the incident and said that his team is interrogating to unearth the conspiracy behind such a huge explosive storage and to find any suspected link between arrested men with anti-national elements, terror outfits or Naxal elements.
