New Delhi: A condolence meeting was held at the Institute of Objective Studies (IOS) on the sad demise of Saiyid Hamid, former bureaucrat, eminent educationist and Chancellor of Hamdard University, who passed away on December 29 at Delhi.
The meeting held on December 30 was attended by the office bearers and the staff members of the Institute.
The members remembered the death of Saiyid Hamid, an illustrious personality, a man having highest achievements to his credit, a man having versatile qualities, a man embodying the finest values is a great loss for the community as well as the nation. “No one will ever forget his contributions, especially in the field of education. He was involved in some advisory capacity with dozens of educational institutions across the country and abroad. His sad demise has caused a vacuum in the educational circle,” the obituary meeting said.
Dr Mohammad Manzoor Alam, chairman, Institute of Objective Studies, said that Hamid used to participate in IOS programmes and watch its activities and programmes with great interest. He used to give valuable suggestions time to time.
Hamid was conferred with a Certificate of Appreciation and Award for his extraordinary services in the field of education, during the IOS Silver Jubilee celebrations programme (April 2011-April 2012).
Dr Alam on his own behalf as well as that of the IOS commiserated with the bereaved family and stood with them in the hour of their sorrow. He prays to Allah (swt) for granting him a high status and maghfiratin the Hereafter.
