Patna: Almost two dozen persons were injured when tension broke out between two communities at Kodmarai village of Kurtha police station of Arwal district of Bihar. The situation is under control, police said on Tuesday.
The situation at the village – 85 kms from here – had worsened on January 26 when participants of a religious procession by one community threw colour on members of the other community, who in turn started a verbal spat to protest it.
“The verbal spat soon turned into stone pelting in which 10-12 persons each from both the communities were injured. The situation was later brought under control,” Kunwar Jang Bahadur, DM, Arwal told TwoCircles.net on phone.
The rituals related to the immersion procession were completed in police presence later on Monday night. After bringing the situation under control, police teams are doing patrolling there to keep a tab on any untoward incident on Tuesday.
