“If humanity is the ground for helping an accused then morality is the ground to sack such a minister.”

Bhopal: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has demanded that Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj should be sacked if she does not step down from the Union Cabinet with grace after the exposure wherein, “without leaving an iota of doubt, she helped a fugitive,” Lalit Modi, the former IPL Commissioner, “out of the way and on quid pro quo.”
A Sayeed, SDPI national president, in a statement also demanded that a judicial enquiry should be conducted against Swaraj “for helping a known fugitive in the garb of humanitarian ground.”
“She has to quit or be sacked, there is no way out. Still to show her patriotism, she should ask the person she helped i.e. Lalit Modi to immediately travel to India and surrender to police here,” he demanded.
Sayeed recalled that in the past the BJP has been vocal on propriety by those in high places — it pilloried the Congress in the Quattrocchi case, and then in the question of Shashi Tharoor in connection with the IPL.
He lamented that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is observing a studied silence over the issue which is bound to snowball. “The government now needs to explain how Swaraj’s actions square with its stated war against black money and money laundering. The Prime Minister should apologize to the nation. If humanity is the ground for helping an accused then morality is the ground to sack such a minister,” Sayeed pointed out.
Modi had promised to bring all black money back to country and also declared that he would bring money launderers and criminals hiding in other countries dragging to India to face courts, he sought to remind and added, “But here, another Modi is being protected by none other than the Foreign Minister, whose daughter and husband are close to the money launderer. We can now understand why (Finance Minister) Arun Jaitley is so secretive about black money holders for they were the ones he used to defend earlier. Whether you are financially corrupt or morally corrupt, India does not need people like this.”
The fact that BJP is defending Swaraj proves that “there is something more than what meets the eye. Now the BJP will know how easy it is to take high moral ground to score political points but how difficult it is to believe in them and practice them,” the statement further alleged and added, “By trying to defend her (Swaraj), the BJP is trying to do more harm to its image than any good. It is a clear case of double standard by BJP.”
Sayeed further alleged that Swaraj “is a perpetual corrupt politician. She helped the king of scam Yadurappa and Yeddy brothers of Karnataka in the scam of mining the country’s wealth and the loot taken abroad. Same thing in Lalit Modi case; accused of Rs 700 crore wrong doing, match-fixing and tax evasion; he is taking shelter in UK, supported by Indian minister to get visa for other country.”
“Will the BJP leadership ever be able to defend themselves without using crutches and dodging the real questions? It seems the Congress of yesterday, is the BJP of today, and they will be the AAP of tomorrow. Whatever has happened in the UPA regime is over now and Indians have already shown them the door. India now wants real answers to the real questions.”
