Seminar on biodiversity orgnaised at Nadva seminary

Lucknow: Maulana Rabey Nadvi, Chancellor of Nadva Islamic University, stressed on the urgent need of saving the biodiversity of the globe for the welfare of the humanity, at a Sseminar on Biodiversity and Islam, organized by Urdu Scientific Society at Arif’ Apartments.

He cited several Quranic and Prophetic injunctions for proper and judicial use of God’s gifts in the form of plants and animals and also for maintaining a balance amongst the diverse living beings and plant life on earth.

Maulana Nadvi also released book titled “Indian Plants of Commercial Value “authored by Dr MIH Farooqi, retired Deputy Director of NBRI. The book describes more than five hundred plants and plant products of Indian origin with short description of their nomenclature in different world languages, chemical composition and commercial uses.

Dr Mansoor Hasan, Dr Kausar Usman, Justice SU Khan, Professor Sharib Rudaulvi, Professor Khan Masood and Dr Shakeel Qidwai, among others spoke on the occasion and emphasised on the need of saving the biodiversity on earth.

They also urged that mass mobilisation and awakening is needed for protecting the biodiversity as any harm to the biodiversity may cause rapid increase of various diseases.
