A Joint-Equivalence Committee with members both from the university and the navy was constituted for credit determination for all theoretical and practical components of academic-cum-training programmes in the Indian Navy.

The admission to Jamia courses would be through the Centre for Distance and Open Learning that will lead to award of degrees on fulfilment of statutory requirements.

The recommendations of the committee were approved by Jamia vice chancellor Talat Ahmad, in the presence of Vice Admiral A.R. Karve, chief of personnel of the Indian Navy, on Wednesday evening.

Under the agreement, eligible naval sailors would be able to enrol in the programmes from July 2016 for the academic year 2016-17.
