Srinagar: Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir has conducted a survey on the intensity of the security forces brutality on people in Kashmir during last two weeks of unrest by visiting the families of slain and have concluded that ‘government forces were targeting the vital parts of protestors’.
Led by Advocate Zahid Ali, the delegation visited families of almost all the persons who were killed during continuing unrest after the death of young militant commander Burhan Wani on July 8 this month.
The delegation visiting the victim families noted that most of the victims have received bullets and pellets on their vital parts above the legs, which led either to their death or permanent disability. Besides, most of the people killed were teenage youth and three women.
“The Indian forces and SOG of police have crossed all limits of oppression and in order to terrorize people have killed these youth and women in cold-blood without any justification at all and as such have committed heinous offences of the massacre of unarmed civilians violating all norms of humanity blatantly and brazenly demonstrated their barbaric face and inner hatred towards Kashmiri Muslims,” the statement issued by Jamaat says.
While denouncing the use of ‘brutal force’ by the security forces against the civilians, Jamaat said, “The world has witnessed the determination of the Kashmiris’ will to achieve their birth right at any cost. Those who are trying to befool them in the name of restoring peace are destined to meet utter failure.”
Jamaat has further requested the international human rights organisations and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to come forward and take serious note of the prevailing situation.
“The unjustified use of state force by government of India against the civilians and indiscriminate firing by automatic and pellet guns causing irreparable and grievous injuries to thousands of youth who were peacefully protesting against the illegal occupation and non-fulfilment of the pledge to hold a public referendum regarding the political future of Kashmir under the control of UNO,” Jamaat said.
Meanwhile, the death toll in ongoing unrest continues to rise, as another youth from Kokernag area of South Kashmir, who was injured after hit by bullet fired by security forces ten days ago, succumbed to injuries at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura in Srinagar. The death toll currently stands at 48, along with thousands injured.
