Solapur (Maharashtra): At a time when the veracity of Bhopal encounter is surrounded by number of logical and factual questions raised by media, NGOs and political parties; Mahmooda Bi, a mother of Khalid Machala who was killed in the encounter has raised her own set of questions.
Mahmooda has already rejected police claim that Khalid had escaped from the prison and called encounter as a “hatched up conspiracy” to eliminate her son and seven other undertrial prisoners. She has also registered complaint with the MIDC police and demanded prosecution of MP police and state home minister for cold blooded killing of her son.
These are the significant questions that she raises over alleged jail break and subsequent encounter killing:
1. Khalid had problem in his one leg due to which he could not walk properly then how can he jump from 35 feet prison wall as claimed by the police?
2. Khalid knew he would be acquitted in the case as trial was going in his favor then why would he try to escape from prison?
3. Khalid could understand the repercussions on the ongoing trial of any attempt of escape from prison then why would he dare to disturb the trial that was already going in his favor by escaping?
4. Khalid always cared for his four children and a wife. After escaping from prison, he can never come to home and instead that will increase worries of his children and wife then why would he suddenly take a risk of jailbreak?
5. I have gone to meet him at jail. The jail is fully secured. There was many layer of security provided to them, it is impossible for a person to break all those levels and escape from prison.
6. The clothes that he is seen in the video where policemen are mercilessly firing at them, was not given to him by me. There was no one else who would provide him clothes than me, then how he is seen with those clothes soon after the alleged jail break?
7. The wristwatch and shoe he was wearing was not given to Khalid by me, then who provided him those articles?
8. Why police wanted my signature on a blank paper two weeks before this episode?
