Indian Muslim Relief and Charities (IMRC) has announced a ten-day volunteer trip to India. As part of the trip, volunteers will gain insights into a variety of activities related to IMRC healthcare, education, women’s empowerment and skill development programs.
With this enrichment program, volunteers will gain an understanding and uniqueness of poverty and illiteracy in India.
The volunteers will stay in Hyderabad and surrounding villages between December 13th – 22nd 2017 and visit an eye hospital, join mobile medical clinic and visit slums to understand the healthcare urgently needed and provide treatment.
“The volunteers will also spend a day with women labourers to gain a first-hand understanding of women who work for basic livelihoods, such as making incense, crafts, and bangles and spend a day in a village madrasa and live like a student there.”
Manzoor Ghori, Executive Director of IMRC, said, “The goal of the trip is to instill a sense of service and charity in our young adults and develop in them a deep appreciation and attachment to our unfortunate Muslim brothers and sisters in India.”
“A team of volunteers in the past solved the problem of poor health in an impoverished area. They came back to the US, got 50 water wells built there and saw significant positive change there, Alhamdulillah,” he added.
The program will give volunteers the opportunity to learn about their roots and culture while gaining life-long experiences that they can bring back from the trip knowing that they have made an impact on someone’s life.
The cost of 10-day trip is $2,500 per person and is open for girls only, 18 and above.
IMRC works closely with local NGOs in India and partner with many organizations providing volunteers meaningful work at the grassroots level where it is much needed.
