Last year in June, Alimuddin Ansari was mercilessly trashed by a frenzied mob and lynched in Ramgarh, Jharkhand.

Alimuddin was a small time coal trader and not a meat trader as reported erroneously by many newspapers.

The fact finding committee of Karwan e Mohabbat shared the entire report wherein the facts are clear that it was a planned move and not an impulse reaction as usually happens in case of mob violence.

When Alimuddin set out to drive to Ramgarh his path was blocked by a mob ready to kill him for killing a cow and carrying its meat in his car. And mysteriously there was a heap of meat on the road about 200 kgs.  The cruel mob claimed that the meat on the road was from the car of Alimuddin. And then they started trashing a surprised Alimuddin mercilessly and then lynched him all the while filming the lynching.

They even burnt Alimuddin’s car.

The police however conducted a fair investigation and arrested and charged the 11 men who were workers of BJP and other Hindutva group.

And after a fair trial of the 11 accused 8 of them were found guilty and convicted  and sentenced to life  by a fast track court but the High court of Jharkhand state granted them bail.

When these convicts stepped out of the jail this Friday they were greeted by the crowd of BJP and other members of the Hindutva groups who had gathered to welcome them. As if this was not enough the Union Minister for Aviation Jayant Sinha also greeted them with garlands, fed sweets and posed for photographs with the convicted men.

What did the minister mean when he greeted these criminals like they were heroes? That too when the central government is claiming to be taking action to control mob violence and prevent killings of innocent people.

Condemning this action the newly elected president of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) M K Faizy said that a Union Minister could have hobnobbed in such a public fashion with those convicted of murder is inexcusable. It is most shocking and despicable from a responsible Union minister to honor those whose cases are sub judice. What example our leaders are setting and it will have an adverse impact on our sensitive people who are vulnerable to such provocative acts.

SDPI President MK Faizy

Faizy said that what Sinha has done is an open affront to decency and the supremacy of the Rule of Law. This is a new low in the Indian History. This is abominable and disgusting. The minister’s action exposes the BJP government and reflects his party’s true image. Such insensitive ministers must be immediately dismissed.

Faizy reiterated that this is an indication to the public that those ultra-criminals are encouraged for killing the people in the name of ‘Gau Raksha’ and considered as ‘Dharma Rakshaks’. Ministers of such mindset will ruin the country leading to widespread anarchy
