In the letter, Executive Secretary of FTC, Anthoniraj Thumma and B. Danam have requested that the government pay immediate attention to the secretariat land outside the Church building being demolished. Instead, permission should be given to construct a church, temple and a mosque in the new complex of the Telangana secretariat. FTC, the apex body composed of Archbishops and Bishops of churches across the twin Telegu state, has made this urgent appeal on behalf of Catholic, CSI, Methodist and Lutheran Churches and other Christian communities.

FTC has reminded the Telangana government that it has always stood united for the common good and by this special permission, it aims to further extend the goodwill towards the general public. The piece of land which is already functioning as a Church would henceforth be used by other communities in the interest of the public.

The Committee has stated in the letter that this request has been “long-pending with the Government for allotment of land in the Secretariat,” and it is the best time to finalize the decision. It also highlighted that in such times of rising incidents of communal disharmony, “this gesture will go a long way to prove the secular credentials of the state Government.”
