‘India-Malaysia trade set to grow’

Kuala Lumpur : Bilateral trade between Malaysia and India is expected to see an increased growth this year from the $8.1 billion recorded last year, an official said.

For the first six months of the year, bilateral trade between the two countries stood at $5.2 billion, Makkal Osai Tamil newspaper Thursday quoted B.N. Reddy, Counsellor (Economic and Education) at the Indian High Commission here as saying.

India is a major importer of Malaysian palm oil and the two countries have ongoing projects in various sectors.

India, last week signed the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Association of South East Asian Nations (Asean) of which Malaysia is a key member.
