Six months’ jail term for using abusive language

New Delhi : A city court Monday sentenced a former cinema theatre employee to six months in jail under the atrocities prevention act for using abusive language against a subordinate.

Additional Sessions Judge Rajnish Kumar Gupta also imposed a fine of Rs.2,000 on the convict, Satya Prakash, a resident of Karol Bagh here.

Satya Prakash, 69, was held guilty under Section 3(1)(X) of the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act dealing with insulting or intimidating with the intent to humiliate a Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe person in public.

According to the prosecution, Satya Prakash, who worked as booking clerk at the Regal cinema theatre here, had used abusive language against complainant Nanak on Aug 10, 2003.
