New Delhi: To press their demand for judicial enquiry into the Batla House encounter, the teachers of Jamia Millia Islamia has given a call for citizens’ march to Parliament on October 24.
The Jamia Teachers’ Solidarity Group, an independent organization of faculty members of JMI, will organize the march. The group has demanded judicial enquiry by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.
In the September 19 encounter at L-18 in Batla House area under Jamia Nagar Police Station in Delhi, two alleged terrorists were killed. One of them was JMI student. The march will proceed from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament at 11 am.
The morning session of Parliament was disrupted on the issue on October 20 when Azamgarh MP Akbar Ahmed Dumpy entered the well demanding the judicial enquiry into the encounter. He was supported by several other MPs.
