“At about 12.55 a.m. we received the call from the owner, Ram Babu. His wife Rajrani (55) died on the spot, while two others were taken to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hopital and are undergoing treatment there,” a police official said.

According to the owner, the police said, the building was being repaired when it collapsed.

The building in Mem Gali of Chandni Chowk is situated in the area of the walled city that houses several other decrepit buildings from the Mughal era.

These serve as residential buildings as well as commercial storehouses in the area, which was also known as the trade hub of Delhi during the British rule.
