New Delhi : The Congress Tuesday claimed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seemed to have been inspired by Adolf Hitler as could be seen from the way it was trying to derail the investigations into the Malegaon blast.

“Hitler inspires the BJP and its ideology in a sustained manner. They want to impose POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) when members of minority community are arrested on the charges of terrorism while they speak in support of those accused of the Malegaon blast because they are part of the Sangh Parivar,” said party spokesman Veerappa Moily.

Moily said the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate L.K.Advani has shown “insensitivity and disregard” for the rule of law by questioning the functioning of Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

“ATS and CBI are highly professional organisations. After the arrest of those accused of Malegaon blast, Advani has been giving comments in support of the accused which shows his insensitivity. This is travesty of justice”, he said.

Moily rebutted the allegations that the investigations into the Malegaon blast are politically motivated.

“No politician in Maharashtra has interfered in the investigations being carried out by ATS. A senior officer of the Indian Army has accompanied Col. Purohit throughout the interrogations since his arrest. However, by raising this allegation, the BJP leaders are trying to scuttle the investigations,” he said.

Moily claimed that the BJP is following this course of action in order to divert the attention of the people from their failure in the states ruled by them.
