Third National Workshop of the Muslim NGOs in March

New Delhi: Movement for Empowerment of Muslim Indians (MOEMIN) is organizing the third ‘National Workshop of the Muslim NGOs’ in New Delhi. The three day workshop from 6-8 March 2009 is for Muslim NGOs working in the field of education, social welfare, women empowerment, and health areas.

This is the third workshop organized by MOEMIN, the first one was from 22-24th Dec. 2006 and the second one from 4-6 January 2008. 325 delegates representing 365 NGOs participate in the first workshop while the second workshop was attended by 300 delegates representing 225 Muslim NGOs. This is the only workshop of its kind that brings Muslim NGOs from all over India.



Talking to TwoCircles.net, Navaid Hamid, General Secertary of MOEMIN said that NGOs has important role in the empowerment and development of the community and country. In this workshop they will be informed about government schemes.

He observed that there are very few Muslim NGOs and even those are un-organized and lack infrastructure and proper guidance.

Organizers hope that Unions Ministers of Human Resource Development, Minorities, Social Welfare, Urban Development & Health apart from officials of various ministries and government welfare bodies would grace the occasion in different sessions to disseminate the government policies and interact with the participating delegates.

NGO delegates would be able to put their point of view before the government officials who are directly responsible for framing policies for minorities and officers who deal with the implementation of the programmes. They will also share experiences and motivating each other for streamlining the working of their organizations.

The workshop is co-sponsored by South Asian Council of Minorities, God’s Grace Foundation, Zakat Foundation of India and Shaikhul Hind Educational & Charitable Trust, Delhi.

There is a fee of Rs. 500 for each delegate. The registration fees can be sent in the name of “Movement for Empowerment of Muslim Indians” OR “South Asian Council for Minorities”.

The Workshop is being organsied at Teen Murti Auditorium, Teen Murti House, Teen Murti Marg, New Delhi.
