RAMALLAH, Feb 18 (KUNA) — Israeli troops raided the village of Jayyous, near Qalqilya north of the West bank on Wednesday and arrested 20 Palestinians.
Eyewitnesses said the army forces stormed the village, imposed a curfew and searched homes, arresting 20 Palestinians.
Israeli forces took over rooftops of several houses and turned them into military fortifications. They detained young people in schools for questioning before transferring them to detention centers.
Jayyous organizes a protest every Friday against the Separation Wall and Israel’s settlement policies with the participation of Israeli and foreign activisits. Israeli forces use both live ammunition and rubber bullets against the demonstrators.
Israel’s land confiscation and settlement in the West Bank has been widely protested by Palestinians in recent months, mainly in Tulkarem and Qalqilya, Bethlehem and Nablus, in addition to Ramallah.
