Lucknow : In what may be dubbed as a fresh move to punish Varun Gandhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Pilibhit Lok Sabha seat, for his diatribe against the minority community, District Magistrate M.P. Agrawal registered a fresh case against him a few hours before being transferred out Wednesday.
Specifically mentioning Varun Gandhi’s rally in the Dhalchad area of the constituency on March 7, Agrawal stated in the FIR that the BJP leader used derogatory language there also.
“We have registered case No 238/09,” investigating officer D.K. Dwivedi said.
The Election Commission had recommended Agrawal’s transfer Wednesday afternoon and the fresh case against Varun Gandhi was registered at night. Agrawal handed over charge to his subordinate Thursday.
