New Delhi: G.M.Akbar Ali, who has been a district Judge so far, was appointed as an additional judge of the Madras High Court by the President of India.
Mr. G.M.Akbar Ali was born on 23rd November 1952 at Vallam in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, India.
He got his graduation degree in science from the Jamal Mohamed College at Tiruchirappalli in 1973. He completed his law education in the Madras Law College. Then he joined the office of Habibullah Badsha, senior advocate.
He was selected as a Sub-Judge (Civil Judge Senior Division) for the first time in 1989.
Mr. G.M.Akbar Ali was a two-time Member-Secretary of the Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority (TNSLSA) and in 2008 was appointed as a member-secretary of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and became the first candidate from South India to hold the prestigious post.
He will be sworn-in on March 31 along with other thirteen judges (1) R.S. Ramanathan, (2) Balasundaram Rajendran, (3) Raja Elango, (4) Duraisamy Hariparanthaman, (5) Cyril Thamarai Selvam, (6) Chinnasamy Swaminathan Karnan, (7) Nadesa Gounder Kirubakaran, (8) M.M. Sundresh, (9) Tirunelveli Subbiah Sivagnanam, (10) M. Duraiswamy, (11) T. Raja, (12) R. Mala, (13) Aruna Jagadeesan.
