Muslim youngsters throng the fest seeking guidance for better career

Mumbai: Kharodia Noaman Musa, 17, wants to become pilot. He has just taken examination for class XI from an English medium school. He was at the Career Fest Vision 2015 program seeking guidance for a college or institute that gives required training at low cost. ‘I will prefer government institutions because they provide with valuable license, good training and immense knowledge,’ says the youngsters.

Hundreds of boys of his age and many hundreds older came to the two day career guidance program organized jointly by some organizations including KAWISH and Association of Muslim Professionals. They wanted guidance both for higher education and job-oriented courses.

Shaikh Ahmed Salman Muhammad Yusuf, 18, came to the fest to know about a cheap college providing quality education in Eye Optics. Coming from an Urdu medium school Ahmed joined an English speaking class before going to the English medium Nirmala College of Commerce & Science. He is proud that he studied in an Urdu Medium school.

Noman Muhammad Arif, 18, expects 50%, marks in his 12th standard examination. He is interested in technical field and has done his MSCIT Computer course. ‘I came here to know what the opportunities are for under-graduates so that I can venture in that field. However, if I get 50 % marks the Software Computer Engineering and Biotechnology will be my choice.’

In its first kind of fests organized for guiding the Urdu Medium students ‘Career Fest Vision 2015’ attracted thousands of students from different districts in Maharashtra.

The Alma Latifi Hall with the capacity of nearly 650 chairs was always packed whether there were lectures, talk shows or dramas and the participants were requested not to head towards the Hall but to the career guidance stalls.

Students mostly of HSC and SSC who were inquisitive about a suitable career and better college to fulfill their dreams consulted the experts on stalls provided by the Association of Muslim Professionals. The stall of career guidance for madrasa graduates managed by Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Centre too received scores of students asking about a part time Alim course.
