New Delhi: All India Muslim Forum has decided to extend support to Mr. Amresh Mishra, Ulema Council’s Lok Sabha candidate from Lucknow. The Muslim Forum yesterday organized a meeting comprising about 500 of its office-bearers and workers in Lucknow and announced the decision in the program in which Mr. Amresh Mishra and his team were invited.
“Initially Muslim Forum was to contest 8 Parliamentary seats in U.P. but in order to avoid any clash with like-minded parties it fielded only one, Mr. Syed Sarfaraz in Chandauli. In Lucknow too, it did not field its candidate so that Muslim masses who have now started nurturing an ambition to extricate themselves from the so-called tactical voting of defeating B.J.P. only, may not get confused as already Azamgarh-based Ulema Council had fielded the veteran Journalist Mr. Amresh Mishra,” the Muslim Forum said.
Addressing the gathering the President of All India Muslim Forum, Syed Rafat asserted that “his party has been asserting for more than a decade that if Indian Muslims want to carve out their dignified place as a distinct electoral entity, they will have to come out of the nasty clutches of the fraudulent secular parties who simply exploit them ( Muslims) in the name of defeating B.J.P., whereas their clash for power has strengthened fascist forces. He appealed to Muslims and all secular people to vote for the Uleama Council candidate, irrespective of whoever is winning or losing.”
Mr. Amresh Mishra recollected how different political parties are adamant to defame and demoralize him as he is crusading against the injustices being meted out to Muslims. He stressed that he was shocked over how the innocent youths of Azamgarh have been shot dead at Batla House encounter and the entire region has been identified with terrorism.
In his concluding remarks, the Chairman of All India Muslim Forum, Dr. M. K. Sherwani emphasized that now the political consciousness amongst Muslims is fast growing, and the time does not seem to be far off when they can no more be deceived by the political parties in the name of ‘secularism’ and ‘communalism’. “Under the circumstances, he said, the only alternative before the Muslim community is that they must usher in an era of alliances with different political outfits on the basis of their electorally consolidated vote bank, instead of being the vote bank in the name of fictitious secular declarations,” he said.
