New Delhi : Forget about long queues and fear of contracting the H1N1 virus while waiting outside the screening centre — a private lab Thursday announced that it would collect swine flu samples from your doorstep.
Diagnostic major Super Religare Laboratories (SRL) Thursday made the announcement after getting a go ahead from the government to carry out swine flu tests.
Sanjeev Chaudhry, chief executive of SRL said that his company is starting with 10 mobile swine flu collection vans for the convenience of residents of Delhi and its suburbs.
“This would certainly help reduce the anxiety and fear associated with this Influenza virus in the minds of people and would reduce the traffic-load at healthcare facilities,” Chaudhry said.
All the customer has to do is call the SRL helpline number and fix the appointed time at which the team from SRL should come to collect the sample. The cost of a swine flu test would be Rs.4,500. The central government has been claiming that it spends nearly Rs.10,000 for conducting a swine flu test.
The Delhi government Tuesday had approved three private pathological laboratories – Dr Dang’s Lab, Dr Lal Pathlabs and Auroprobe – in the city for testing samples for the swine flu virus. SRL is the fourth pathological laboratory to have got the approval for swine flu testing Wednesday evening.
The capital has so far reported 549 swine flu cases of which three have succumbed to the virus. However, 495 people had been discharged after being cured.
