A total of 47 others were wounded in the blast, among them three civilians, the APS said, quoting an Interior Ministry news release.

The attack perpetrated on Saturday morning in Boumerdes province’s Dellys locality, about 100 km east of the capital of Algiers, “against a military barracks killed 30 people … and left 47 injured,” the report said.

“Both terrorists who committed the attack died at the scene,” it added.

This is the second bombing in three days. On Thursday, a suicide bombing attack in eastern Algeria killed about 19 people and wounded 107 others.

The attack took place at the town of Batna, some 450 km east of Algiers, apparently targeting President Abdelaziz Bouteflika who had planned to visit the region.

Although security has greatly improved in Algeria in recent years, sporadic attacks continue to be reported in isolated parts of the northwestern African country.
