Kochi: Superintendent of Police Sajid Farid Sapu of the National Investigation Agency has been given charge of investigating the Calicut twin blasts case. The Agency is now reportedly studying the reports of the developments in the investigation carried out by the state police so far. The Agency would also analyse the scope of the involvement of Thadiyantavide Naseer who is now under police custody in Bangalore.
The case was taken up by the agency a few days ago as it was doubted that agencies outside Kerala too were involved in the blast. The agency finds the case important also because the blasts took place before the blasts in Bengaluru. It expects to find more details about the roots of terrorism in south India through the investigation.
Sajid Farid Sapu is an IAS officer in the 1998 Madhya Pradesh cadre. He has reportedly proved his mettle through his investigation of different cases. The NIA team would reportedly reach Calicut this week to begin the investigation.
