Lucknow : A thick blanket of fog and cold conditions would continue to grip parts of Uttar Pradesh for at least the next two days, the weatherman said Saturday.
Although the western disturbance in the central and the eastern parts of the state has fizzled out, it has left behind enough moisture, which due to cold conditions, has converted into thick dense fog enveloping most parts of the state, Met officials said.
“There will be no change in the weather conditions for the next two days or so,” state Met director J.P. Gupta, told reporters here.
“Due to winds, the minimum temperature is likely to fall in parts of the state,” he added.
Taking into account the cold conditions in Lucknow, schools here have been directed to suspend classes up to Class 5 till Jan 7 and change the timings of classes 6 to 12.
“As per the changed timings, the classes will now run 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.,” said Lucknow District Magistrate A.K. Ghosh.
The Met department said the minimum day temperature in Lucknow on Saturday was recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius, while in Varanasi it was 10.7 degrees Celsius.
