Kerala under scorching heat

By Aaliya Rushdi, TwoCircles.net,

Thiruvananthapuram: Fierce heat has hit the shores of Kerala this summer. The people of the state are in search of a method to overcome the heat. They are even unable to grasp sleep at night. Many of the citizens of the State say that they have heard of much heat and hot in other states but, in Kerala this is for the first time that we face such a situation.

“Unlike this year, in all other summer seasons, the suffocation of heat could be tampered with a cold bath in some water. But now, we don’t even get enough water to meet our needs. This is surely a curse upon Kerala” said a homemaker at Kerala.

“When we take a look at the temperature, there is no much increase in the scale. Only 0.2 percent of increase can be noted. Btu the heat is not because of the hike in temperature, it is because of the changes happened within the low temperature.” Dr. K.Sanhtosh, Director Whether Information Centre.

The direction of the wind has changed the situation and brought much heat in the climate. Usually in February there used to be a rain from South along with the hot wind from North. But this time, there was no rain from the south and also the hot wind entered the State. Only some places in the state got a small amount of rain by this Month. It rained only at Alappuzha, Kollam, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta districts of Kerala. In the first week of March again things changed. Some places got little more amount of rain, this gave piece of hope to the people of the state. The hope was in vain.

The air reaches to the coast from dry places like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka etc. The humid climate of the atmosphere also adds to the heat of the sun. There will be a solution for this terrible heat, If only a cold wind comes from the west. The Meteorologists are expecting for a rain by the end of this week. They say that the temperature would be affordable if it does so.

Another tragedy is the death of the people due to sun burn. Till now, no death reports were heard in Kerala due to sunburn. But this year, around 5 people collapsed at Palakkad because of the menace. As electricity is generated from water, the scarcity of water will also lead to the shortage of electricity in the state. The government is planning to hire electricity on high price to tackle the shortage. The Government also declared that it will bring back “load shedding”, the necessary cutting of the electricity, if the situation moves on like this. Anyway the load shedding will only be done after March, the month of exams.
