Lucknow : A Class 10 student was allegedly killed by his two classmates over a love affair in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district, the police said Thursday.
Manoj Kumar, 15, was found dead Thursday inside his hostel room, which he shared with two of his teenaged classmates who are believed to be behind his murder. Both the accused are absconding.
“We cannot disclose much about the case, as of now we can only share that preliminary investigations reveal that Kumar’s friend killed him over a love affair involving a girl,” police inspector Shafiq Ahmad told reporters in Sonbhadra, some 350 km from Lucknow.
“It appears Kumar died of severe head injuries inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon,” he added.
According to police, Kumar had taken a room in a private boys hostel along with two other friends in the Vikas Nagar area of Sonbhadra.
Police have detained the family members of the two accused in order to ascertain their whereabouts.
