Munich: Dutch winger Arjen Robben is a doubtful starter for Bayern Munich first-leg Champions League quarter-final Tuesday against Manchester United after pulling a calf muscle Saturday.
Robben, who was rested for the first half of the Bundesliga game against VfB Stuttgart, pulled up late on holding his left calf.
“Maybe it’s not so bad but it will be difficult for the game against Manchester United,” coach Louis van Gaal said.
Bayern went down 2-1 for their second straight defeat in the league.
Robben has been in scintillating form for Bayern, scoring the extra-time winner with a solo run and shot against Schalke 04 in Wednesday’s German Cup semi-final.
His goal from outside the area agaisnt Fiorentina proved decisive in sending Bayern through to the last eight of the Champions League.
