MAEF spends Rs.30 crore on minority girls education during 2009-10

New Delhi: Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF), a central government agency run under the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs, has provided scholarships to 15,070 meritorious girl students belonging to Minority communities spending Rs. 18.08 crore while it has aided 105 NGOs to construct schools/hostels etc. for Minority girls with an amount of Rs. 13.37 crore during the last fiscal ending 31st March 2010.

MAEF was set up 1989 to provide financial assistance in the form of scholarship to backward Minority girl students to promote education among them and also to grant aid to NGOs for construction and expansion of schools/hostels, technical/vocational training centres for educationally backward minorities with emphasis on girl students.

The MAEF is a voluntary, non-political, non-profit making social service organization which is registered under the Societies Registration Act. It is functioning under the guidance of Union Ministry of Minority Affairs and Union Minister for Minority Affairs is ex-officio President of MAEF.
