Patna: Danish Ashraf is just 22 and has cleared India’s topmost Civil Services examination in first attempt. His hometown Sahsaram in Bihar is proud of him and two other candidates from the same town who have cleared UPSC 2009. Among 875 successful candidates there are 21 Muslims. Ashraf is one of them.
Ashraf hailing from Sahsaram district cleared this top exam in first attempt obtaining 409th rank which brought smile on the faces of Muslims from the district – the soil of Sher Shah Suri.
Ashraf did his schooling in his hometown while for further education he moved to Patna and did graduation from Patna University with 3rd position in his batch. He topped in MA at Hans Raj College, Delhi.
His father Chand Ashraf is an advocate and mother Uzra Ashraf is social activist. This year Danish got success in two competitive exams: NET JRF on 16th April and UPSC on 6th May 2010.
Gautam Kumar (Rank 446) and Satyarth Aniruddha Pankaj (Rank 206) are also from Sahsaram district who succeeded in UPSC examination 2009. The result was announced on 6th May 2010. A total of 875 candidates (680 male and 195 female) have been recommended for appointment to the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and other allied services. The UPSC Civil Services exam topper this year is Shah Faesal from Jammu and Kashmir.
