Mumbai: A private tutor, who had been absconding for over a month, has been arrested for allegedly raping his minor student, police said Thursday.
Rajendra Nadar, 52, had been absconding since the victim’s family lodged a complaint against him with Khar Police, investigating officer B. Mukhedkar told IANS.
“According to the complaint, the accused had been raping the girl for nearly three months. He then absconded from his residence in Vakola, Santacruz east,” he said.
Police interrogated Nadar’s relatives and acquaintances and even sent a police team to Chennai to trace him.
“Following a tip-off yesterday (Wednesday) that he will approach the sessions court to file for anticipatory bail, we laid a trap and nabbed him outside the court premises,” he said.
The 13-year-old victim is a resident of upmarket Khar and is studying in a nearby school.
Nadar, a professional private tutor, has been teaching other children in the area.
